Resource: Appropriate Repetition

Hi, just a short post this time. I’ve uploaded a resource that I made a while ago. It works best with group classes. It’s a game-like activity. The students beat the teacher if they use all the strips (not crossed out) to get repetition but appropriately and not just grunting or commanding.

The top row of crossed out words and phrases are common among Japanese learners. Feel free to change it up. Give me some credit if you make a remix/localization and let me know and I’ll link to it here.

Anyway, the sheet is here as a PDF and Word document to edit.

  1. Thank you for sharing Marc – looks great, and the top four phrases would work here in Ukraine without modifications. Question about the activity: do you want the students to address the phrases to you only, or to each other as well? Is this done during a specific activity, a slot of time (e.g. 5-10 mins of a lesson)? Who is keeping the score? Excited to try! 🙂

    1. The way I used it with kids is that they did it with me first and they used the strips but I’d give out the crossed ones.

The beauty is that it lends itself to different uses. Think of the sheet description as merely a serving suggestion. Also, feel free to remix it.
